Dismisses Nawaz sharif plea seeking bail extension. The six-week bond of the former prime minister will expire on May 7.The bail was granted on March 26 for medical reasons, and the vertex court ordered Sharif to surrender to the court after the bail expired.A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Supreme Court President Asif Saeed Khosa heard the statement presented by Sharif’s lawyer.According to Geo News, the court also refused to allow Sharif to travel abroad for treatment. The president of the court expressed his displeasure at the attempts to make fun of the Supreme Court asking if the cancellation of the bond was something rare.

Nawaz Sharif has been serving a seven-year sentence since an accountability court sentenced him in reference to Al-Azizia earlier this year. During the hearing, Khawaja Haris, Sharif’s lawyer, informed the court about his client’s health status, but failed to convince the bank to obtain an extension.Haris argued that Sharif should be allowed to go abroad since his client’s cardiac magnetic resonance was not possible in Pakistan. The lawyer said that the doctors had advised the patient to undergo angiography. He said that cardiac magnetic resonance is carried out as an alternative to angiography. The president of the court said the court had granted a six-week bail for treatment, not for medical examinations. When the court asked the lawyer to explain the point indicated in the request for seeking treatment abroad, the lawyer said it was based on a report from Sharif Medical City Hospital.
